Five Free Microsoft Betas To Tryout! Including Windows Vista Beta 2!

Here are a few well known Microsoft software betas, that you can get for absolutely free. Previously some of these betas were only available to Microsoft testers, but they recently released them to the general public. Such as, the Office 2007 Beta 2 and Windows Vista Beta 2.

I highly recommend installing the Windows Vista Beta 2 operating system and on top of that, installing Office 2007 Beta 2. This should only be done on a non-productive system. Windows Vista Beta 2 already has Windows Media Player 11 Beta installed along with Windows Defender Beta 2 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2. So there is no need to install them on Windows Vista unless a new build is released. You might want to order Windows Vista Beta 2 on DVD for a small fee, because downloading it can be extremely time consuming and Microsoft servers are under a super high load.

Note: This is beta code and should not be used in a production environment or on a main machine in the home. Beta 2 is intended for developers, IT professionals and technology experts to continue or begin their testing of Windows Vista. Before you decide to use Beta 2, you should feel comfortable with installing operating systems, updating drivers, and general PC troubleshooting. Some risks of using beta operating systems include hardware and software incompatibility and system instability. If you have concerns about installing this beta software on your computer, we encourage you to obtain the final release version of Windows Vista when it is available in 2007.

Get Your Office 2007 Beta 2 Today!

I might try Office 2007 together with Windows Vista, just like him. Since, I’m a beta tester for both, it will interesting.

Today’s the big day–I’m so pleased to announce that as of right now, you can download Office 2007 Beta 2 from the Office preview site at http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/.

Click the button marked “Try it!” and enter a few pieces of information, and you’re on your way. I tried it out and was downloading in about 3 minutes from the time I clicked the button. (Whoops, I hope I didn’t take someone’s spot…)

The best way to experience the new user interface is simply to try it. No matter what you think of the screenshots you’ve seen or what I’ve written here, consider giving it a test drive for a few weeks. I hope you won’t want to go back to your current version of Office.

Beta 2 isn’t perfect, but it’s proven a great platform for my day-to-day work over the last month. In fact, last weekend I upgraded my home computer to Windows Vista Beta 2 + Office 2007 Beta 2, and I’m writing this post right now using both of them.

Go get it–and spread the word.

You heard him, spread the word!

At the time of writing this I couldn’t download it, guess there must have been to much demand, even for Microsoft.

New Office 2007 UI

First, here are some basic screenshots of the Office 2007 programs.

There are so many changes from the Beta 1 visuals that it would be hard to make a complete list, but a couple of the things you might notice right off the bat: the Quick Access Toolbar in the title bar, group titles on the bottom of groups, and the Office Button (more on that below.)
